An account of our experiences when building systems for useful static analysis. We describe the construction of Tricorder, the internal static analysis pipeline at Google, and the lessons learnt about how to make such tools useful. Next, we describe Shipshape, the open-source version of Tricorder. Finally, we describe Tricium, the static analysis pipeline which will bring the benefits of Tricorder to Chromium.
